Holidays Part One: Making Stuff

I kind of dropped the ball on blogging during the holiday anticipation time, sorry! But I promise I was making lots of fun things to show. I had to speed crochet a pile of presents for a few friends, which can be a little time consuming. Also, being back home with the family, friends and boyfriend is a little distracting, but I'm not complaining.
Christmas Cookies: From-Scratch Sugar Cookies, Brownie Peppermint Sandwiches, Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies, Cake Batter Confetti Cookies.
Wine Cork Christmas Trees (Made with my cat's company).
Festive Christmas string light manicure.
Crocheted wrist-warmers with little bows

Tis the season, I suppose

Once December 1st hits this weekend, my head will be in the clouds, brainstorming all the fun things I'm going to make as gifts this year since my goal is to make as many gifts as possible. There's just something extra special about putting the extra love and time into presents for everyone! (Plus I'll have all day, almost everyday to fill with DIY fun once I get back from school.) I had to hop on the Pinterest bandwagon and have since found some fun things that I'll share since my days aren't worth talking about when they're spent prepping for finals.

In addition to all these, me and my best friend will be doing plenty of baking and hope to make up some cute little Christmas cookie trays for the families that are close to our hearts. I also want to learn how to crochet beanies for some of my male buds. Hope everyone else is equally excited to get in a holiday spirit (regardless of which holiday you celebrate, and how little you may connect it to religion).
Smiles, Morgen

Birthday Crafts!

Today is Sam's birthday! He's now a big, bad adult and the same age as me. I stayed up later than my usual old lady bed time last night to finish the first part of his birthday gift. Since I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise, this will be posted tomorrow. I got crafty for my babe and made some hand embroidered handkerchiefs since he always keeps one in his pocket.
I decided to take a shortcut and not make the handkerchiefs from scratch, I got these at Kohl's for about ten bucks. Also to start, you'll just need sewing basics; needle, thread, pencil. (This is my sewing box for college, isn't it adorable and bitsy?)
I did a couple with just a monogram of his initials in different thread colors. Then I decided to get tricky and do some things that are a little more personal to him. I think the treble clef turned out the best, but the steal your face skull is the one I'm thinking he'll be most excited about.
